Program overview and basics
What is Snapshot Pro?
Snapshot Pro is Progressive Commercial's telematics program. It uses driving data, collected with your consent, to help determine a personalized insurance rate and provide tools that support safer driving and vehicle management.
How does Snapshot Pro work?
When you choose to enroll in Snapshot Pro, you'll receive first-term participation savings. Then, you'll collect and share driving data with Progressive Commercial as part of the program. Continued participation can help you maintain your first-term savings and be considered for a personalized rate at renewal.
If you already own telematics devices, like an electronic logging device (ELD) or other GPS-enabled device, you can connect them to Progressive Commercial. If you don't have your own, or if we're unable to receive sufficient data from them, we'll send compatible ones (at no charge) to install in your vehicles.
Who is Snapshot Pro designed for?
Snapshot Pro is available to most commercial auto customers, including small businesses and trucking risks.
Is Snapshot Pro required?
It depends. Snapshot Pro is optional for most customers. However, a small subset may be required to participate to qualify for insurance coverage. We'll let you know if you need to enroll when you get a quote.
What are the benefits of participating in Snapshot Pro?
Your Snapshot Pro experience may include the following benefits:
- A participation discount for your first enrollment term
- A personalized renewal rate based on your driving data, with the potential to save based on safe driving habits
- Driving insights and fleet management tools when using Progressive Commercial-provided devices
How is Snapshot Pro different from the Snapshot program for personal auto risks?
Snapshot Pro is designed for commercial auto policies and commercial vehicle use. Snapshot is a separate program for personal auto customers that works differently.
Dashcam program
What is Snapshot Pro + Dashcam?
Snapshot Pro + Dashcam allows eligible customers to qualify for higher first-term savings (up to an additional 15% beyond their base Snapshot Pro savings) by choosing to participate with Progressive Commercial-approved AI dashcams.
Where is Snapshot Pro + Dashcam available?
Snapshot Pro + Dashcam is available in most states, except AK, HI, MT, NY, and WA. Only some California customers will be eligible.
Which dashcams qualify for Snapshot Pro + Dashcam?
To qualify, your vehicle must be equipped with one of the eligible dashcams listed below.
- Geotab: GO Focus Plus or GO Focus Pro
- Samsara: Dual Facing AI Dashcam (with a Samsara Premier or Enterprise plan)
How do I enroll in Snapshot Pro + Dashcam?
You can contact your agent or call Progressive Commercial at 1-800-895-2886 to enroll in the program. If you're quoting online, you can opt into the dashcam program when you indicate that you have your own telematics devices.
What are the installation and connectivity requirements?
When you choose to enroll in our dashcam program, you'll have 45 days to purchase and install approved dashcams in all vehicles on your policy. You'll also need to authorize data sharing with Progressive Commercial using the personalized link we email when you enroll in the program. Dashcam savings may be removed if you don't meet the installation and connectivity requirements within this timeframe.
If enrollment in the dashcam program is required for your policy, see the required participation section for more information on connectivity requirements and deadlines.
Does Progressive Commercial provide dashcams?
No. Customers enrolled in our dashcam program must purchase qualified dashcams directly from a participating provider for all vehicles on their policy.
Do I need a dashcam to participate in Snapshot Pro?
No. Most Snapshot Pro participants can enroll without a dashcam, though some may choose to add qualified dashcams for additional program benefits or savings opportunities. In certain cases, however, underwriting guidelines may require dashcams.
Can I use my existing dashcam?
You may be able to use an existing dashcam if it's a qualified device from an approved provider. See the list of qualified AI dashcams above.
Do dashcams record video inside the vehicle?
Some dashcams may record video inside the vehicle, depending on the provider and device. You should review your provider's documentation for details about video capture, storage, and privacy settings. Cabin-facing video is optional for most dashcam program enrollments unless we advise that dual-facing dashcams are required when you get a quote.
Are there additional savings for using dashcams?
Yes. If you choose to participate in Snapshot Pro with approved dashcams, you may qualify for additional savings of up to 15%. Availability and savings amounts vary by state and situation.
What happens if my dashcam stops reporting or is removed?
If we stop receiving dashcam data, we may contact you to address the issue. If it isn't resolved, you may lose eligibility for dashcam-related benefits or savings.
Eligibility and enrollment
Who is eligible to enroll in Snapshot Pro?
Most commercial auto customers can enroll in Snapshot Pro, including small businesses, owner operators, and for-hire carriers. Vehicles without existing telematics sources can use Progressive Commercial-provided devices to participate. Eligibility may depend on factors such as vehicle type, state laws, and policy details. Contact Progressive Commercial or your agent to determine whether you're eligible for the program.
Are all vehicles on the policy required to participate?
Yes. Snapshot Pro typically requires participation from all eligible vehicles on the policy.
What fleet sizes are eligible for Snapshot Pro?
Snapshot Pro is available to eligible commercial auto customers, regardless of fleet size. There are no fleet size requirements or restrictions for enrollment.
Can existing Progressive Commercial customers enroll mid-term?
Yes, existing customers can enroll mid-term if they meet program eligibility requirements.
How does enrollment work for new businesses vs. renewals?
If you're purchasing a new policy, Snapshot Pro can be selected during quoting in all eligible states except California. If you're quoting in California or already have a policy, contact Progressive Commercial or your agent to enroll.
Is Snapshot Pro available in all states?
Snapshot Pro will be available in all states except AK, HI, MT, and WA. Savings and other program features may vary by state. Snapshot Pro is replacing our previous commercial auto telematics offerings in phases, and availability will expand over time. Please check with your agent or Progressive Commercial representative for information on the latest availability.
Rates, discounts, and renewals
Is there an automatic enrollment or participation discount?
Yes. Customers who choose to enroll in Snapshot Pro receive a 15% participation discount on their first enrollment term. Savings may vary in certain states and situations.
When does Snapshot Pro impact the policy premium?
Once participation savings are applied, you'll keep them for the rest of your first enrollment term as long as you continue to meet program requirements, including any applicable installation and connectivity requirements. At each renewal, you'll be considered for a personalized rate based on your driving data.
Can my rate increase as a result of Snapshot Pro?
Yes. Snapshot Pro helps determine a personalized rate based on your driving behavior and how it compares to similar businesses. Safer driving can lead to savings, while riskier driving could result in a higher rate at renewal.
What driving behaviors affect pricing?
Driving behaviors, including how, when and where you drive, may affect pricing depending on program rules.
How often is the data reviewed?
Driving data is reviewed as part of the renewal process. If you're participating with Progressive Commercial-provided devices, your driving data may also be reflected in your Snapshot Pro Driving Dashboard.
Will Snapshot Pro impact my current term or future renewals only?
Snapshot Pro can affect both your current term and future renewals. When you enroll, any applicable participation savings are applied to your current term. If we have sufficient driving data at your next renewal, we'll use that information to personalize your renewal rate.
Can I see how my driving is impacting my score?
Yes. If you're participating with Progressive Commercial-provided devices, you can view driving scores on the Snapshot Pro Driving Dashboard. Use the dashboard to monitor safety ratings for your policy and vehicles and identify opportunities for improvement. Applying those insights can help you coach drivers and increase your chances of meaningful savings at renewal.
When participation is required
Note: Most customers can choose whether to participate in Snapshot Pro. The information below applies only to customers who are required to participate to qualify for coverage. It is not applicable to voluntary enrollments.
Why am I required to participate in Snapshot Pro?
A small percentage of customers are required to participate in Snapshot Pro based on underwriting criteria and risk characteristics. Participation requirements are determined during quoting and underwriting.
Will I receive participation savings if telematics is required?
Customers who are required to participate may not be eligible for participation savings when they first enroll. However, their driving data may still be used to determine a personalized rate at renewal. If dashcams are not specifically required for their enrollment, they may choose to participate with approved dashcams and qualify for savings of up to 15% through our dashcam program. Availability and savings amounts vary by state and situation.
Are specific types of devices required for my enrollment?
If you're required to participate in Snapshot Pro, specific device requirements will be communicated to you and/or your agent in your quote. We'll also send device requirements to the email address listed on the quote. GPS-enabled devices (like an ELD or similar telematics device) are required for mandatory enrollments. In some cases, we may specifically require Progressive Commercial-approved dashcams or dual-facing dashcams. If dashcams are required for your policy, please see the dashcam section for a list of accepted providers and models.
What happens if I don't complete the required setup?
If required telematics devices are not installed, connected, or actively reporting data, your policy may be subject to cancellation, non-renewal, or other underwriting action. You must comply with any applicable requirements for your policy within 30 days of enrollment and remain in compliance for as long as your policy remains in force.
Can I use my own telematics device to satisfy the requirement?
In many cases, yes. You may be able to use an approved third-party telematics provider or other eligible data source, subject to program requirements.
What happens if my required device stops reporting data?
You should resolve the issue as soon as possible. Failure to maintain active participation may impact eligibility for coverage, renewal, or other underwriting decisions.
Devices and setup
How does Snapshot Pro collect driving data?
Snapshot Pro collects driving data using approved devices. These may include devices you own, such as an ELD or other GPS-enabled device, as well as devices we provide at no cost.
How do I request a Snapshot Pro device?
When you enroll in the program, we'll ask whether you have your own telematics devices. If you don't, we'll send compatible devices (at no charge) to install in your vehicles.
How can I share data from my own telematics device, like an ELD?
If you indicate during enrollment that you have your own telematics devices, we'll email you a personalized link. When you open it, you'll be asked to complete a short setup process, which involves logging into your account with your telematics provider and authorizing data sharing with Progressive Commercial.
I have my own device, but Progressive Commercial sent me a different device to install. Why?
In some cases, we may send compatible devices if we're unable to receive sufficient data from your existing ones. These may include windshield-mounted devices that don't need to be plugged into a vehicle port, so you don't have to uninstall your own devices.
What is the deadline for installing and/or connecting my devices?
If you're participating with your own devices, you have 30 days after your enrollment date or policy start date (whichever date is later) to install them and authorize data sharing with Progressive Commercial via the personalized link we send you.
If you're participating with Progressive Commercial-provided devices, you'll have 30 days after the device shipment date to install your devices.
Failure to meet the installation and/or connectivity requirements within these timeframes could result in removal of participation savings and a small surcharge.
Is there a mobile app?
No. Snapshot Pro does not currently offer a mobile app participation option. Instead, you can participate using your own devices or one of several Progressive-provided options.
What happens if a device is unplugged or stops reporting?
If a device is unplugged or stops reporting data, we may not be able to collect complete driving information. This could affect insights or pricing at renewal. You may be contacted if we detect an issue.
How long does it take for data to begin transmitting?
Once the device or data source is active, driving data typically begins transmitting soon after normal vehicle operation resumes.
What happens if a vehicle is temporarily out of service?
If a vehicle isn't being driven, less data may be collected during that time. This doesn't automatically create a problem with participation, as long as devices aren't unplugged for extended periods of time.
Can my Progressive Commercial devices be transferred between vehicles?
No. Devices are assigned to specific vehicles on the policy. If you add or change vehicles on your policy, Progressive Commercial will send a new device for each new vehicle. If you remove a vehicle from your policy, you should return any devices assigned to that vehicle.
Data, privacy, and usage
What driving data does Snapshot Pro collect?
Snapshot Pro collects information about how, when, and where you (and/or your drivers) drive. Refer to the Snapshot Pro Terms & Conditions and Privacy Statement for more information about the data we collect through the program.
How is driving data used?
Driving data collected through your participation in the program may be used in underwriting and rating (including verifying information you provide), the resolution of claims, and research and development. See the Snapshot Pro Terms & Conditions and Privacy Statement for more information about how your driving data could be used.
Who can see the driving data?
Where available, the program dashboard gives you visibility into data for vehicles on your policy. We take your privacy seriously and do not share your data with anyone unless required to support situations outlined in the Snapshot Pro Terms & Conditions and Privacy Statement.
Business tools and reporting
How can I gain visibility into driving data collected through my Snapshot Pro enrollment?
Eligible customers with Progressive Commercial-provided devices will receive access to a Snapshot Pro Driving Dashboard, which offers trip and safety information along with additional operational and fleet management features.
At this time, the Snapshot Pro Driving Dashboard isn't available to customers using their own devices. However, many device providers offer their own dashboards and reporting capabilities that could help you gain visibility into trips and manage safety.
What reports are available?
Depending on how you participate, available reports may include driving summaries, safety scores, and trip level information.
How often are safety scores updated?
Safety ratings are updated as new driving data becomes available. The Snapshot Pro driving dashboard displays trip information in near real time and will display a safety rating once enough driving data has been collected.
Can I use Snapshot Pro data to coach drivers?
Yes. Snapshot Pro insights are designed to help businesses identify trends and encourage safer driving habits.
Can my agent access my driving data?
Agents don't have access to your Snapshot Pro Driving Dashboard or other reporting that reflects detailed driving data. Any reporting provided to agents is limited to information needed for policy support and servicing.
Opting out, removing vehicles, and other program changes
Can customers opt out of Snapshot Pro?
Yes. If you enrolled in Snapshot Pro on a voluntary basis, you may choose to opt out. If you opt out within 30 days of enrollment, any applicable participation savings will be removed. If you opt out more than 30 days after enrolling, a small surcharge may also apply.
What happens if a customer opts out mid term?
If a customer opts out, Snapshot Pro participation will end and any participation discounts may be removed and (for late opt-outs) a small surcharge may apply, subject to program rules and state regulations.
Can individual vehicles be removed from Snapshot Pro?
No. You must be willing to participate with all eligible vehicles on the policy.
What happens if a vehicle is added or removed from the policy?
If you add a vehicle to your policy, Progressive Commercial may send you a new device to install in it. When vehicles are removed, you'll return any provided devices back to Progressive Commercial. Please don't move devices between vehicles.
Does opting out affect my discount or renewal?
Opting out may remove any participation discounts and may affect how the policy is priced at renewal.
Transition questions (for existing Smart Haul®/Snapshot ProView® customers)
Why did Progressive Commercial consolidate Smart Haul and Snapshot ProView into Snapshot Pro?
Progressive Commercial consolidated the programs to create a simpler, more consistent telematics experience. Snapshot Pro brings similar features together under a single program, so customers and agents no longer have to navigate multiple telematics options.
I'm currently enrolled in Smart Haul — what does this change mean for me?
You can continue to participate with your own telematics devices, like ELDs, similar to how you participated in Smart Haul. As part of the transition to Snapshot Pro, you may be asked to authorize data sharing via our new platform. If we receive insufficient data from your devices, we may send compatible ones (at no charge) to install alongside them. We aim to provide continuity in your enrollment and more meaningful opportunities to save based on safe driving.
I'm currently enrolled in Snapshot ProView — what does this change mean for me?
Snapshot Pro builds on the Snapshot ProView experience, creating a more streamlined program name and structure while maintaining the core concept of driving based insights and pricing. You can continue using your current devices, and we'll reach out if we need you to complete additional steps to stay fully connected.
Will I need to take any action to move to Snapshot Pro?
In most cases, no immediate action is required. If action is needed, Progressive Commercial will reach out to you directly.
Will my driving history from Smart Haul or Snapshot ProView carry over?
Previously collected driving data may continue to be used as part of your participation in Snapshot Pro, subject to program rules and policy timing.
Will my discount or pricing (rating) be impacted because of the change?
The transition to Snapshot Pro does not itself change your current participation savings or renewal pricing. As with our previous Smart Haul and Snapshot ProView programs, we'll continue to consider your policy for a personalized renewal rate based on your driving data.
Can I opt out if I don't want to transition?
Yes. If you previously enrolled in one of our telematics programs on a voluntary basis, you can opt out of Snapshot Pro, although opting out may impact your rate in certain situations. If you have questions about Snapshot Pro or no longer wish to participate, please contact us at 1-800-895-2886.
